Who will treat my child at Prime Time Pediatrics? Are the providers pediatricians?

Quick Answer

At Prime Time Pediatrics, your child is always seen by a pediatric expert. Our team includes board-certified pediatricians—Dr. David Sprayberry, Dr. Breana Miller, and Dr. Megan Redfern—plus a highly trained pediatric nurse practitioner. Because we treat only newborns through teens, every visit is handled by providers who specialize exclusively in children's healthcare.

Detailed Answer

Prime Time Pediatric Urgent Care is Athens-Oconee’s only walk-in pediatric urgent care center, so your child will only be treated by experienced pediatric experts. Most other urgent cares utilize non-pediatric providers who have only limited training and experience taking care of sick children. Our practice is staffed by board-certified pediatricians—Dr. David Sprayberry, Dr. Breana Miller, and Dr. Megan Redfern— and supported by a pediatric nurse practitioner with extensive child-specific training and a gentle bedside manner. Board certification means each doctor completed a three-year pediatric residency (equivalent to about 12,000 hours of pediatric training) and passed rigorous national board exams verifying expertise in newborn, child, and adolescent medicine, growth, and development. Additionally, our pediatricians continue their education on an annual basis and participate in ongoing board exams to assure that they are up to date and ready to treat your child with excellence.

Because we limit our practice to newborns through 19-year-olds, we perform thousands of sick visits, sports and camp physicals, rapid strep and flu tests, and minor procedures such as ear-wax removal and wart treatment every year, giving our team extensive experience with the examination of children, correct dosing for kids, and comfort techniques to help make your child’s experience as pleasant as possible. When you arrive—whether you walk in or register online through our Fast Pass—one of these pediatric specialists will evaluate your child, explain the plan in plain language, and answer your questions.

If labs are needed, the same provider reviews results on the spot and determines next steps, so your family leaves with a clear, confident care plan built for children, not adults. That’s the Prime Time difference.
