About Us
Company History
Doctor David R. Sprayberry practiced as a primary pediatrician in Athens and Watkinsville from 2004 until 2019, when Prime Time Pediatrics was born as a way to provide access to a pediatrician for same-day sick visits for children who were not able to see their primary pediatricians. After spending 15 years in hospital-owned primary care pediatrics, Dr. Sprayberry founded Prime Time Pediatrics as an independent practice because he understood that it can be difficult for pediatricians to meet the demand for same-day sick visits when their schedules are already full of prescheduled visits. He also realized that the pediatric population in the Athens area was outpacing the addition of practicing pediatricians, so he wanted to provide a place that pediatricians would feel confident sending the patients they were unable to accommodate.
Since its founding, Prime Time Pediatrics Urgent Care has served as Athens-Oconee’s first and only pediatric urgent care, providing same-day sick visits for newborns through age 19. Over the years, the practice has grown to include two additional board-certified pediatricians, Dr. Breana Miller and Dr. Megan Redfern, along with a friendly and dedicated administrative and clinical support team.
Company Vision & Mission
Prime Time Pediatrics was built around the foundational belief that every child is a gift from God and is therefore worthy of compassion, dignity, and respect. We believe that parents want the best care possible for their children and that children deserve care from physicians who have dedicated their professional lives to taking care of children.
In pediatrics, we often say that children are not just little adults. Their anatomy and physiology change as they grow and develop and their healthcare needs to be customized to their age, size, and developmental status. The board-certified pediatricians at Prime Time have the education, training and experience to meet those needs. Your child’s unique needs and medical issues deserve care designed specifically for your child, not just cookie cutter, one-size-fits-all treatments.
Prime Time Pediatrics is the only local urgent care that guarantees your child will be seen by a board-certified pediatric expert, a characteristic that distinguishes it from general urgent care facilities staffed with providers who may have limited or no pediatric training.
Company & Individual Awards
Doctor David Sprayberry and Prime Time Pediatrics have won a number of awards over the course of Prime Time’s history which include numerous “Community Choice” and “Best of the Best” awards from the Athens Banner-Herald for best pediatrician and best urgent care after annual public voting. Additionally, Prime Time Pediatrics was recognized as a “Bulldog 100” business by the University of Georgia in 2024, recognizing Prime Time as one of the fastest growing businesses owned by UGA alumni. Doctor Sprayberry also holds a personal academic honor as well: he serves as clinical faculty for the AU/UGA Medical Partnership and is a recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award.
Doctor Sprayberry has served on the board of directors of the Georgia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (Georgia AAP), and continues to serve as Chair of the Georgia AAP Section on Medical Missions, as well as serving on the Nominating Committee and Fall CME Planning Committee — leadership roles that reflect peer recognition of his contributions to pediatric medicine in Georgia.
All three physicians — Dr. Sprayberry, Dr. Breana Miller, and Dr. Megan Redfern — carry the designation of FAAP (Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics), an earned credential reflecting successful completion of the arduous board certification process and a demonstrated commitment to the standards and ethics of pediatric care as recognized by the nation’s leading pediatric professional organization.
