Can Prime Time Pediatrics Urgent Care treat an asthma attack or wheezing in my child?
Quick Answer
Yes. Prime Time Pediatrics Urgent Care can evaluate and treat mild to moderate asthma attacks or sudden wheezing. Our board-certified pediatric team provides on-site nebulizer breathing treatments, inhaled medications, pulse-ox monitoring, and prescriptions to help your child breathe easier—without the long wait of an emergency room.
Detailed Answer
Pediatric urgent care for asthma or wheezing is one of our everyday services at Prime Time Pediatrics Urgent Care, Athens-Oconee’s only kids-only urgent care clinic. When your child arrives with coughing, chest tightness, or audible wheeze, our board-certified pediatricians quickly measure oxygen levels, listen to the lungs, and rule out infections with rapid flu, RSV, or COVID-19 tests if needed.
We keep child-sized nebulizers and spacers on site, so we can start albuterol breathing treatments within minutes. If the episode is more severe, we may add an oral steroid, provide oxygen, or encourage a safe transfer to the emergency department. Most mild to moderate flares respond to albuterol and oral steroids, letting families avoid the ER and get back home faster.
