Can Prime Time Pediatrics Urgent Care perform a rapid strep test for my child?
Prime Time Pediatrics Urgent Care keeps CLIA-waived rapid strep tests in stock every day. When your child arrives with a sore throat, we swab the back of the throat, run the test on-site, and have accurate results in about 8–10 minutes. Positive results allow our board-certified pediatricians—Dr. David Sprayberry, Dr. Breana Miller, or Dr. Megan Redfern—to prescribe antibiotics immediately so your little one starts feeling better fast.
Because Prime Time Pediatrics Urgent Care is Athens-Oconee’s only urgent care clinic just for kids, you never need an appointment. Use our Fast Pass to pre-register online using Fast Pass or simply call during our extended hours:

We also perform companion rapid tests for flu, RSV, mono, and COVID-19, making it easy to rule out similar illnesses in a single visit.
We accept most major insurance plans and offer pay at time of service discounts for self-pay families, so cost is one less worry. Kid-friendly exam rooms, popsicles, and a prize chest help calm anxious patients while they wait for their strep results.
If your child’s test is negative, we routinely send a follow-up throat culture to our reference lab and call you with definitive results when they are available.
